Ici mieux qu’en face

Inspired by a 17th-century Dutch mirror seen in an Amsterdam museum, Laurence Aëgerter realized this monumental piece especially for the exhibition. The title, Ici mieux qu’en face (Better here than there), also the title of the exhibition, gives its name to a work meticulously hand-engraved by the artist.

The piece, a metaphor for the double and escape—a central theme in Laurence Aëgerter’s work—is the first step in this surprising journey through the Petit Palais.
