d&#8217;Ovide <\/em>is a commission by the MAMAC, Nice, in the context of the exhibition &#8216;L&#8217;ombre, le reflet, l&#8217;\u00e9cho&#8217;, curated by Rebecca Fran\u00e7ois and Elsa Puharre, in the Palais Lascaris, a 17-th century baroque palace in Nice.<\/p>\n<p>I envisioned this blown, cane-sculpted sculpture for the State Bedroom of the Palais Lascaris.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A ladder of translucent, opalescent glass stands in front of the four-poster bed.<br \/>\nAs its feet turn into roots and anchor themselves in the ground, it leads straight up to the bed&#8217;s canopy, creating a passageway to somewhere else.<\/p>\n<p>The metamorphosis of the ladder into a tree is a dialogue with the ceiling painted in the 17th century by the Genoese school, depicting Apollo and Daphne transformed into a laurel tree.<br \/>\nThe title of the work, <em>Le Songe d&#8221;Ovide,<\/em>\u00a0refers to the book of Metamorphoses by the Latin poet Ovid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">At night, the \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 14\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><em>Le Songe d&#8217;Ovide<\/em> (Ovid&#8217;s dream), 2024<\/p>\n<p>A self standing, blown and cane sculpted glass sculpture.<\/p>\n<p>Phosphorescent blue pigments are encapsulated in the glass, diffusing a bluish light in darkness.<\/p>\n<p>285 cm tall with a 370 cm diameter.<\/p>\n<p>This sculpture is the result of a commission by the MAMAC, with the curator Rebecca Fran\u00e7ois, to create an in situ art work for the Palais Lascaris, Nice.<\/p>\n<p>All my
