Compositions catalytiquesPetit Palais series

In 2018, the artist began the Compositions catalytiques (Catalytic Compositions) series with a group of young adults suffering from psychotic disorders in a psychiatric institution in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Fascinated by their multisensory capacities, she created compositions with them using various materials placed on top of reproductions of paintings. She was inspired here by Heda’s still life and extended the work to imagine this composition. A small pyrite pyramid reinforces the latent tension between the painting’s sense of balance and imbalance.

This work was made on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Ici mieux qu’en face’ at the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris, in 2020-2021.
You can watch here a 10 min film, in which the artist and the curators talk about their favorite work.
