Ici mieux qu’en face

Inspired by a 18th-century Dutch mirror seen in an Amsterdam museum, Laurence Aëgerter realised this monumental piece especially for her solo exhibition at the Musée du Petit Palais, Paris. The title, Ici mieux qu’en face, also the title of the exhibition, gives its name to a work meticulously hand-engraved by the artist. The piece is a metaphor for the double and escape of the Real—a central theme in Laurence Aëgerter’s work.

This work was made on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Ici mieux qu’en face’ at the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris, in 2020-2021.
You can watch here a 10 min film, in which the artist and the curators talk about their favorite work.
