Huilende Harp (Crying harp)
In the Tuck Gallery of the Petit Palais museum in Paris, Laurence Aëgerter came across a harp which was missing many strings. She provided new strings, onto which she affixed glass tears. In each tear, she inserted a tiny number or letter. Together, they compose an infinite potential of the phone numbers, names and addresses of people lost or loved, all lamented by this melancholic harp.
This work was made on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Ici mieux qu’en face’ at the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris, in 2020-2021.
You can watch here a 10 min film, in which the artist and the curators talk about their favorite work.
