Louvre Plage – Sables

As a continuation of her series Louvre Plage, Aëgerter develops her research about the transience of existence throughout artefacts.
She has laid out sand from the beach upon which she grew up in Marseille onto the book ‘Les Merveilles du Louvre’ (Hachette, Paris, 1958).

Iconic masterpieces of antique sculptures and objects are simultaneously appearing and disappearing under a layer of sand.
Louvre Plage – Sables is somehow an archeology of images.
