Révélations – Les trois sœurs provençales (Revelations – The three provençal sisters)
‘In 2019, Laurence Aëgerter began work on three Cistercian abbeys in the Provence region, namely Silvacane, Sénanque and Le Thoronet.
Careful observation of the interiors of each of these three churches resulted in a series of photographs screen- printed using thermo-reactive ink, part of the Cathédrales hermétiques series inaugurated in 2015, whereby exposure to the sun and the warmth and ultra-violet rays it emits gradually reveal the images.
The film Révélations – Les trois soeurs provençales extends this meditative experience of time, light and matter.’
A radical object of contemplation, this video challenges our relationship to time. Almost nothing happens — and yet, everything unfolds in that space: in waiting, in slowness, in meditative presence. It reveals our difficulty in remaining still, attentive to the simple passage of time.
