The Harvest of Years
In the courtyard of the Palais Lascaris in Nice, a wooden ladder is transformed into a tree, running towards the upper floors and attempting to reach the sky. The ladder tree draws lines of life, possible escapes, hidden passages, dreams within reach.
Its metamorphosis blossoms into a constellation of objects like votive offerings.
This wishing tree symbolises our anchorage in reality and our attempts to escape.
The fabulous tree is a memento vitae: remember that you live, in keeping with the Lascaris’ family motto: Nec me fulgura [Not even lightning can strike me].
